Army Reserve Officers Training Corps. The University of Maryland Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program, trains students to be 2nd Lieutenants in the United States Army, Army Reserve and Army National Guard. Here at University of Maryland, Army ROTC is an elective curriculum that students take along with their other required college classes. Along with great leadership training, Army ROTC can pay for college tuition through numerous types of scholarships. Since Army ROTC is an elective, one can participate during their freshman and sophomore years without any obligation to join the Army.
