CENTER FOR HEALTHY FAMILIES

The Center for Healthy Families is the couple and family therapy clinic housed in the Department of Family Science in the School of Public Health. The Center provides family therapy to residents of surrounding communities, training for graduate student therapists (under faculty supervision), and a site for clinical research. Problems treated include couple/marital conflict, parenting problems, family violence, depression, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress and other anxiety disorders, child/adolescent school and mental health problems, and other issues within the family context. More than 500 area families take advantage of Center services each year. It is located on the UMCP campus in Room 2415 Marie Mount Hall.

The Center is currently training therapists to help returning military personnel and their families to cope with adjustment problems resulting from deployment and to reestablish healthy couple/family relationships. Free therapy sessions are being offered to student veterans and their spouses/partners and family members. For more information about the Center, go to:
